Is it possible to become a medical/dental assistant in the state of WA with misdemeanors?

I was interested in going into a program for medical/dental assisting in Washington state, but I’m nervous because I do have prior offenses on my record. (DUI, Driving on a suspended license). Will this affect my chances of becoming certified? Any information would help, thanks!

i personally would not want someone who has had DUIs and has driven on a suspended license doing anything near my mouth, or body.

    hopefully not.

Well no one’s perfect. I don’t think certification will be effected, but I don’t know your State’s requirements. Check the college.

It might it might not, depends on who else is going to be in the program is what I’m guessing. Don’t worry so much as long as you can really do it and have learned from your mistakes.
